It is already February and a busy legislative season awaits us in Springfield. This month marks the beginning of an important phase in the public policy making process where numerous bills and legislative proposals are introduced to the General Assembly. They will start their journey through the legislature with lawmakers set to reconvene today – February 6.
As always, I look forward to engaging in thoughtful discussions and reviews in committee meetings regarding these possible changes to Illinois law.
I appreciate when you take the time to share your thoughts with me so please send all of your questions and requests for assistance to my district office at 630-349-0645.
Please review some of the work I’ve been doing across the district this January below.

Sanalitro Tours DuPage County Jail’s Innovative Rehabilitation Programs with Sheriff Mendrick
Earlier this month, I toured the DuPage County Jail for a behind the scenes tour conducted by DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick. The visit highlighted the jail’s rehabilitation initiatives, including drug detoxification, tattoo removal, and vocational training programs. The programs are collectively known as JUST and they are leading the nation in effectiveness.
DuPage County Jail’s JUST Program is a shining example of how we can create positive change within our criminal justice system. The emphasis on vocational training in fields like welding and truck driving not only equips individuals with valuable skills but also enhances their opportunities for a better life post-incarceration.

Earnings Fall for Illinois Businesses
New data reveals a concerning trend for our small businesses. A recent report by Alignable shows a significant drop in earnings for 64% of Illinois small businesses in Q4 of 2023, compared to the same period in 2022. This places Illinois alongside Florida as having one of the toughest quarters, only surpassed by New York and Ohio.
I am trying to address these challenges head-on. We need policies that foster a thriving business environment, support job creation, and alleviate the burdens on our small business community.
If you haven’t already, consider sharing your thoughts and experiences in my Small Business Needs Assessment.
Your responses can help us better support small businesses in Illinois.

Sanalitro Announces Grants for Local Park Districts
I recently announced the receipt of significant grant awards for park districts within the 48th District, as part of the 2024 Open Space Land Acquisition & Development (OSLAD) program administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

These awards demonstrate significant investment in our park districts and speak to our commitment to enhance the quality of life for every resident across the State.
The following park districts received OSLAD grants in 2024:
- Addison Park District: $600,000

Sanalitro Visits Local Preschool
Had a fantastic time reading to the bright minds at Goddard Preschool in Bloomingdale! In addition to touring the facilities, I had productive conversations with the school’s dedicated administrators and read some exciting story books to the students.
My top highlight was seeing the students showcase their creativity with some custom-made Rep. Sanalitro banners. The future is bright!
DuPage County Food Pantries in Need
Food insecurity is a growing issue across Illinois. If you are able, consider donating to one of the many local food pantries operating inside DuPage County.

Sanalitro names Constituent of the Month January 2024
I named Frank Parisi as the winner of my Constituent of the Month program for January 2024. A longtime resident of Carol Stream, Frank Parisi was recognized for his unwavering commitment and contributions to Carol Stream and surrounding community.
Frank’s dedication to Carol Stream has a long history and has earned him respect among his peers and neighbors. He played a pivotal role in founding the Carol Stream Parks Foundation, an initiative that bolsters financial support for the Carol Stream Park District. Most notably, the Foundation’s annual contributions to the Youth Scholarship Fund have opened doors for residents who might otherwise face financial barriers.
