Her proposal focused on helping parents save money when they need it most and making sure students head back to school prepared for success.
Now, lawmakers have officially adopted the same idea, but changed the dates so the tax holiday runs from August 7 through August 16 — after Rep. Sanalitro led the charge on the issue.
The bottom line?
Rep. Sanalitro pushed for tax relief for working families.
Public policy moved because of her efforts.
Illinois families will finally see some relief at checkout.
“At a time when families are stretched thin by higher prices, every dollar matters,” Rep. Sanalitro said. “Students should have the supplies they need to succeed without parents being hit with extra taxes.”
Ideas from Rep. Sanalitro continue to lead the way on affordability and helping Illinois families keep more of their hard-earned money.
Rep. Sanalitro’s Back-2-School Supply Drive will be taking place July 31st through August 14th.
