Rep. Sanalitro Providing Resources to Help Residents Challenge Property Tax Bills

ILLINOIS – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) is encouraging residents frustrated with rising property tax bills to review their assessments and take advantage of available appeal resources.

“You work hard for your home and deserve a fair assessment,” said Rep. Sanalitro. “Many homeowners may not realize they have the right to challenge their property tax bill if they believe their property has been overassessed.”

The information Rep. Sanalitro is sharing is designed to help residents better understand the property tax appeal process, including:

  • Reviewing assessment notices carefully for errors in property details, square footage, or comparable home values
  • Filing an appeal with their County Assessor’s Office before applicable deadlines
  • Gathering supporting evidence such as recent sales of similar homes, photos of property issues, or independent appraisals
  • Appealing to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB) if a local appeal is denied

“The process can feel overwhelming, but residents do not have to go through it alone,” Sanalitro added. “My office is here to help connect homeowners with the right resources and information.”

Residents with questions or those seeking assistance can contact Rep. Sanalitro’s office at 630-349-0645 or email [email protected].
