Illinois deserves growth, opportunity, and property tax relief.
This includes the possibility of a world-class Bears stadium that could bring jobs, investment, and major economic benefits to our state.
That is why I joined my House Republican colleagues in signing an open letter making it clear: we are willing to support a project that benefits Illinois, but not at the expense of taxpayers.
Any agreement must include real, statewide property tax relief for homeowners and must not add to the burden families are already carrying.
At a minimum, House Republicans are calling for:
All property tax referendums to appear only on November ballots
An end to back-door referendums, including bond rollovers without voter approval
We have also introduced additional property tax relief proposals, including:
- HB 9 (Ugaste) – School District Property Tax Levy Grants
- HB 1323 (Ugaste) – General Obligation Bond Expiration Dates
Illinois families need relief, transparency, and responsible decision-making that prioritizes lowering property taxes!
