Rep. Sanalitro Recognizes October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month

ILLINOIS – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) is calling on all Illinois residents to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October and to take action to help combat the disease. Breast cancer affects approximately 12,000 women in Illinois each year, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

“Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S., but early detection can save lives,” said Rep. Sanalitro. “When caught early, the five-year survival rate is almost 99%. That’s why it’s so important for women to get regular mammograms and stay on top of their health.”

Rep. Sanalitro encourages everyone to participate in local awareness events, support those affected by breast cancer, and educate themselves on early detection methods. Regular screenings, such as mammograms, can detect cancer before symptoms appear, giving patients the best chance of survival.
