Springfield, IL – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) is celebrating the successful passage of Senate Bill 3567 in the House of Representatives. This legislation enhances transparency and accessibility for taxpayers by mandating the prominent display of the Truth in Taxation notice on local government websites.
SB3567 requires that the Truth in Taxation notice, which is a critical message informing citizens about proposed property tax levies, must be posted on or near the top of the homepage of a local government’s website. If not directly on the homepage, the notice must be accessible via a direct link from the homepage. This ensures that residents can easily find and review this important information without having to navigate through multiple web pages.
Representative Sanalitro stated, “This bill represents a significant step forward in making the government more accessible and accountable to the people”. She continued, “This legislation empowers taxpayers with the information they need to stay informed and engaged in local government decisions relating to their property taxes.”
The passage of SB3567 further demonstrates Rep. Sanalitro’s commitment to improving government, fighting high property taxes, and ensuring that Illinois residents have greater access to critical tax information.
