ILLINOIS – On Thursday, State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) passed HB5243 through the Illinois House of Representative’s Counties and Townships Committee.
The bill requires notice and a public hearing before a road district budget is finalized, and it gives a township board authority to approve all or part of that budget and decide how much to levy.
“Passing this legislation is an important step towards transparency and accountability for passing road district budgets. We must ensure greater transparency in government spending, no matter how big or small the unit of government is”
