“Smishing” – aka texting scams – are on the rise.
If you receive a suspicious text saying you owe money, remember:
Do not reply to the message
Do not give out any of your personal information or banking information
Never open a link or an attachment from an unsolicited, suspicious, or unexpected text or email
If you think that you are a victim of “smishing”, you should contact law enforcement to report the scam. You can also file a complaint with the FCC at no cost.
