CAROL STREAM, IL – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) is proud to join the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) in announcing the recipients of the 2024 Small Equipment Grant Program, which is .
“This program delivers much-needed funding to fire departments and EMS providers across the state,” said Rep. Sanalitro. “I’m thrilled to see support our local first responders getting the tools they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.”
A total of $4 million was awarded to 178 fire departments, fire protection districts, and not-for-profit ambulance services in Illinois. Each recipient could receive up to $26,000 to help purchase essential equipment such as turnout gear and self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs).
The following Fire Departments in Rep. Sanalitro’s District received grant funding through the program:
- Elk Grove Village Fire Department
- Bloomingdale Fire Protection District #1
- Itasca Fire Protection District
- Wood Dale Fire Protection District
Most Illinois fire departments, fire protection districts, township fire departments, and nonprofit ambulance providers were eligible to apply. Applicants were required to participate in the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) for at least two years prior to applying.
“Illinois firefighters and EMS personnel are some of the best in the country,” Rep. Sanalitro added. “This grant program is a smart investment in public safety, and I’ll continue advocating for support and resources for our first responders.”
