SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) is working to give Illinois drivers a nostalgic option for their vehicle license plates. She has sponsored House Bill 3391, which would allow the Secretary of State to issue retro-style license plates modeled after the iconic design used between 1983 and 2001.
“Many Illinois drivers remember these classic plates, and this bill gives them the choice to bring that style back,” said Sanalitro. “It’s a fun way to celebrate our state’s history while giving drivers more options.”
The bill sets an additional $40 fee for the original issuance of a retro plate and a $27 fee for renewal. These funds would go toward maintaining Illinois’ vehicle services.
