Rep. Sanalitro Proposes Extended Hours for Early Voting

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) has introduced legislation to require early voting sites in Illinois to remain open until 7PM. HB1901 is designed to ensure working Illinoisans have ample opportunity to vote early without compromising their work schedules.

“Voting is one of our most fundamental rights, but many hardworking Illinoisans struggle to find the time to cast their ballots,” said Rep. Sanalitro. “Extending early voting hours will make it easier for people to participate in our democratic process while balancing their work and family obligations.”

Under the current system, some early voting sites close before many residents finish their workday. Sanalitro’s bill ensures consistent extended hours, providing greater access for all voters.

“Every eligible voter should have the chance to make their voice heard,” added Rep. Sanalitro. “This commonsense change gives people more flexibility and strengthens voter turnout.”

The legislation is now under consideration in the 104th General Assembly.
