Rep. Sanalitro Condemns Removal of Hyde’s Name from DuPage County Courthouse

DUPAGE COUNTY – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Hanover Park) has strongly condemned the DuPage County Board’s decision to strip the late Congressman Henry Hyde’s name from the DuPage County courthouse, calling it a disrespectful and politically motivated act that ignores Hyde’s bipartisan legacy.

“Henry Hyde was a dedicated public servant who worked across the aisle on critical issues like child welfare, family leave, and community safety,” said Sanalitro. “His service to our nation, including his time in the military and decades in Congress, deserved to be remembered—not erased.”

Hyde, a World War II veteran and Medal of Freedom recipient, represented the region for over 30 years and was widely recognized as a principled statesman who could find common ground with those he didn’t always agree with.

“At a time when we should be celebrating leaders who worked across party lines, Democrats in DuPage have chosen to play politics with history,” Sanalitro added. “This decision is wrong, and it disrespects not only Henry Hyde but the countless DuPage residents he served.”

Sanalitro vowed to continue fighting for policies that reflect Hyde’s commitment to service, bipartisanship, and principled leadership.
