Rep. Sanalitro Reflects on First Term

My second legislative session as a lawmaker is nearing a close, and I can’t help but feel gratitude for the opportunity to serve my constituents and our great state of Illinois.

These past 18 months have been a journey of learning, growth, and friendship. Here are a few of my favorite highlights 👇👇

Legislative Achievements: I was honored to support legislation that improves our state’s economic environment, enhances public safety, and generally increases the quality of life for Illinois families. My favorite legislation includes the passage of the Drug Education and Youth Overdose Prevention Act, the establishment of October as Italian American Heritage Month, and advocating for child victims of abuse and neglect.

Community Engagement: Staying connected with my constituents has been a top priority. With my team, I’ve hosted numerous town halls, community meetings with local officials, and other service oriented events. (Stay tuned for more details on my soon to be announced Summer 2024 Shred Event!)

Defending Small Businesses: I recognize the challenges faced by small businesses, and since my husband and I are small business owners, I have worked tirelessly to support policies that provide relief and keep local small businesses from leaving Illinois.

Supporting the Local Community: The most responsive and accessible way to get help is through our local units of government. Whether it is your local municipalities board, public works department, or police and fire service – I prioritize making myself available to amplify their needs or concerns while getting them the tools they need to serve you.

As I look ahead, I remain dedicated to serving with a focus on improving our community and state. Thank you to all who have supported and guided me in this journey.

Together, we will continue to make Illinois a place people want to live – not leave.
