SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro released the following statement in reaction to Governor Pritzker’s State of the State Address on February 21st.
“Governor Pritzker’s budget address was filled with false hope, inappropriate political rhetoric, and misaligned priorities. He claims that under his leadership he has brought us stability and progress. Unfortunately this portrayal is far from the truth.
Illinois citizens feel higher costs in living, unsafe neighborhoods and communities, and increasing concerns regarding the recent influx of migrants and undocumented immigrants, especially in suburban areas like my district.
His support for Illinois sanctuary state status has led to this inflow of migrants and resulted in misused taxpayer funds, lower quality of local services, and diverted resources from our own citizens. So far, the state has spent an estimated $2.8 billion for migrants and undocumented residents to cover their needs like shelter, food, and healthcare. This is unacceptable when we have actual citizens in need of the exact same things.
I will continue working to find solutions for the real issues impacting my district and highlighting the concerns of my neighbors for as long as I serve in the state house.”
