Changes Ahead for Metra Riders: New Fares and Ticket Window Closures

HANOVER PARK, IL – State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro is informing Chicagoland residents of significant updates to Metra’s ticketing and fare structure, effective February 1, 2024. The changes include new fare pricing, different products, closing of ticket windows, and a shift towards digital and vending machine ticketing.

Representative Sanalitro emphasizes, “These changes are crucial for modernizing Metra’s services and making public transportation more accessible, widely used, and user-friendly for our residents. It’s important for everyone in Chicagoland to be aware of these adjustments so that they can begin to plan their commutes accordingly.”
