Carol Stream, IL – The rising price of insulin has impacted many Illinois seniors, individuals, and families with diabetes. State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R – Hanover Park) has co-sponsored legislation to address this problem. Recently signed into law, House Bill 2189 ensures more affordable access to insulin by limiting the monthly price of insulin to only $35.
State Rep. Sanalitro commented, “This measure recognizes the life-saving importance of insulin for individuals with diabetes. The special discount program initiated by this law will allow qualified diabetics – from young to old – to save money and avoid the financial strain when they acquire their monthly prescription medications.
Sanalitro concluded, “As a State Representative, I am committed to supporting legislation that will protect Illinoisans from being financially burdened while trying to maintain their health. This includes working to lower the costs associated with health care including prescription medications, insurance, or other related costs.”
Those eligible for this program will receive guidance from the state detailing how participating pharmacies will apply the discount. Additionally, information will be disseminated on the procedures for seeking reimbursement from health insurance providers.
