Summer Storms Across Chicagoland

Severe weather impacted the 48th District, as well as many parts of the State, Wednesday afternoon.

The Chicagoland area, particularly O’Hare International Airport, faced a bout of severe weather yesterday as multiple tornadoes swept across the region, causing considerable damage, disrupted flights, and general chaos. Hundreds of flights were grounded at both Midway and O’Hare, with a tornado damaging warehouses near one of O’Hare’s runways, demonstrating the severity of the weather system.

Thousands were left without power as the storms halted the daily life of Chicagoans. Particularly hard hit were communities in Cook and DuPage counties -where the 48th district calls home.

Although the severe weather warnings have now been lifted, this summer storm is a reminder of the destructive power of Mother Nature. As our region picks up the pieces, we send our thoughts to everyone affected and the teams working tirelessly to restore normal. Stay safe, everyone!
